The English Riviera
Torbay is a large bay on Devon's south coast overlooked by the towns of Paignton, Torquay and Brixham.
Torbay is also known as The English Riviera due to the fact that in Victorian times visitors used to compare the area to the French Riviera. This section of south Devon has always been well known for its warmer climate, with 22 miles of coastline and 20 beaches on offer.
The beaches stretch for miles and we would recommend (for the energetic) taking a day's stroll from the far end of Preston to Elberry Cove and back.
This will take you through Paignton Sands, Fairy Cove, Goodrington (North and South) Sands, Three Beaches, Broadsands and over the headland to Elberry cove.
Fabulous views, watering holes on the way at Goodrington and Broadsands, sea shell and glass collection and fresh air!
